The inspiration for this song came from an interesting process. I was really bored one afternoon during finals week in college a couple of years ago and wasn't really in the mood to study. I had a notebook with me, so I decided to go to the art museum on campus to try and alleviate some of my said boredom. I ended up roaming around the museum for 45 minutes staring at art and jotting down random notes of whatever popped into my head while observing. That evening, I sat down with a couple of pages of notes and sorted out the song. Honestly, I have no idea what the song means for me yet even 2 years later. What keeps me grounded is trying to make peace with the unknown.

We stood at the top of the hill
After the storm passed
It came so fast

My hands were tied to your spine
The oil stained river glowed
A monochrome
Of love

We dwelled in the city the open air
Such a grand spectacle
The low light full

We hid in your cloak of flowers
The branches seemed to merge
And I was so sure
Of love

Let the moon carry us away

Let the sun burst in its place
We don’t need the morning light
I see just fine here tonight

Maybe I've died already once

Such a distant mirror
Is only getting clearer

So harvest your ghosts
Your inner demons
I don’t wanna fight
What isn’t mine
A love

Let the moon carry us away

Let the sun burst in its place
We don’t need the morning light
I see just fine here tonight

Carry water
Carry water
Carry water with me
x4

Once I knew we were pure
Just wanting to be seen
But what did it mean

The cardinal bird sang for us

And wove a pretty string
For us to cling to
A love
