My work is centered around the idea of contact to the ground; to the land. A land in addition to being a geographical location is a ritual that transcends physicality. In these intaglio prints, most of them done with added chine-collé details, I explore the idea of how feet are used as a way to transition through cultures, through liminality, through the border. These images are abstractions of the U.S-Mexico border and the role that music and dancing have in emphasizing the fallacy of unnecessary human divide. When people stomp their feet across this violent border, the ground becomes the vehicle through which rituals and traditions are communicated and celebrated.
