Open Handed

Desire is a challenging subject, especially for feminine people. We are taught that we should be happy with what we have, that desire is selfish or narcissistic, and that our ideas don’t matter. Because of these ingrained beliefs, I have trouble deciding and articulating the things that I want, from what I want to eat to how I want to spend my life.

An open hand is a symbol of desire. The hands in this print interact with each other visually, but they are completely separated. What are they reaching for? What should they be reaching for? What will they receive?
